Universal Pictures is currently in the process of developing a new installment in the Jurassic World movie franchise. The last film in the series, Jurassic World Dominion, was released in 2022.
David Koepp, renowned for writing the scripts for Steven Spielberg’s initial Jurassic Park film and its sequel, Jurassic Park: The Lost World (1997), is penning the screenplay for this upcoming movie. Frank Marshall, the producer who shepherded the Jurassic World trilogy, is returning to produce the new film, with Spielberg serving as the executive producer.
The Hollywood Reporter indicates that the film aims to usher in a “new Jurassic” era, suggesting a fresh storyline that may not include the return of familiar characters portrayed by Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. Furthermore, iconic characters from the Jurassic Park films, played by Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, are not expected to be part of this new project.
The original Jurassic Park movie was based on Michael Crichton’s 1990 novel. Koepp, known for his work on Mission Impossible (1996) and the first Spider-Man movie in 2002, brings his expertise to craft the narrative for this latest addition to the Jurassic World franchise.
